Tim Wilding

Wessex Young Athletes' League would like to pay tribute to Tim Wilding, who died on 3rd November 2021.

Tim was involved from the very early days of what was then the Andover Doves League. He became a long-serving and enthusiastic Chairman of Wessex YAL and also served as League Secretary for a time. In later years Tim was President of the League, still working hard behind the scenes to continue the League's success.

In addition Tim supported the League as a technical official, volunteering as a timekeeper or as a starter's assistant if that was the greater need. He also took on the role of League Co-ordinator at matches, providing sound advice to resolve any difficulties. He continued to compile the League tables through the most recent season.

It is appropriate that New Forest Junior Athletic Club, which Tim helped to found in 1999, has won one age category in our League in each year of competition since 2016.

The strength of our League is just one part of Tim Wilding's considerable legacy.
